Backstitch or Back stitch is used to outline shapes and is a variation of other stitches like stem or split stitch. This stitch is made from backward direction and is mostly used in hand embroidery.
Start with threading the needle and tie a not at the end of the thread. Take a fabric (cotton fabric would be good if you are a beginner) hold it with an embroidery hoop. Draw a straight on fabric with pencil or water soluble pen and follow the below steps…
Step 1 :
Bring the needle out from fabric at point “A”.
Step 2:
Insert the needle at point “B”. This is the first stitch.
Step 3:
Again take the needle out through point “C” and put it in point “B”.
Step 4:
Continue the same steps until the end.
